Polines Prepares for International Collaboration with UTHM Malaysia

SEMARANG – Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) welcomed a delegation from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Polines Campus Directorate Building. The visit served as an opportunity to strengthen inter-institutional ties and explore various strategic collaboration opportunities in education, research, and human resource development.

The UTHM delegation was led by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Muhammad Fikri bin Hasmori and Ts. Dr. Ahmad Fateh bin Mohamad Nor. The arrival of the group was welcomed directly by the Director of Semarang State Polytechnic, Dr. Garup Lambang Goro, ST, MT, accompanied by Dr. Ir. Kurnianingsih, ST, MT, Deputy Director for Cooperation, Public Relations, and Information Systems, along with the leadership of Polines.

During the meeting, the two institutions introduced each other to their university profiles, departments, and leading study programs. The discussion was lively, with various collaboration opportunities for future realization discussed.

Several cooperation plans that were the focus of discussion included student exchange programs, development of Masters and Doctoral (Ph.D.) programs, research collaboration, scientific publications, and various international academic programs that could improve the competency of students and lecturers from both institutions.

Polines Director, Dr. Garup Lambang Goro, ST, MT, said that strengthening international networks is part of Polines' commitment to improving the quality of vocational education to be globally competitive.

“"We welcome the visit from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia. We hope this meeting will be the first step in realizing various collaborative programs that will benefit both institutions, particularly in the development of vocational education, student mobility, and capacity building for lecturers and researchers," he said.

Meanwhile, Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Muhammad Fikri bin Hasmori expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome given by Polines. He hopes that the communication and synergy that have been established can be followed up through collaborative programs that have a positive impact on the academic communities of both universities.

The activity closed with the handover of souvenirs as a symbol of friendship and commitment to strengthening institutional relations between Polines and UTHM, which was then followed by a group photo session with all participants.

Through this visit, Semarang State Polytechnic continues to expand its international network as part of its efforts to support superior, innovative, and impactful vocational education, while also opening up more opportunities for students and lecturers to collaborate at the global level.
