Community Service Program: Polines Submits Two Applications to Village Government and MSMEs in Jabung, Gantiwarno

KLATEN – The D3 Informatics Engineering Study Program and the S.Tr. Computer Engineering Technology Study Program of the Politeknik Negeri Semarang (Polines) conducted community service in Jabung Village, Gantiwarno District, Klaten Regency at the local village multipurpose building on Thursday (14/8/2025).

Deputy Director I for Academic Affairs of Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) Dr. Samuel Beta Kuntardjo, Ing.Tech., MT said that Polines as part of a university has an obligation to serve the community. Now, community service is of course something that is in accordance with existing potential.

"Coincidentally, the D3 Informatics Engineering and S.Tr. Computer Engineering Technology study programs focus on creating something (an application) that benefits the community in Jabung Village. This application was requested by the Jabung Village Head, who has a good relationship with our lecturers. Ultimately, we're helping the village government and the community develop the application," he said.

Samuel Beta Kuntardjo stated that in this community service, Polines provided the Jabung Village Population Demographic System Application and the Jabung Village MSME Financial Management Application.

In the Jabung Village Population Demographic System Application, the Village Government (Head of Village) can see the demographic structure of village residents in detail. real time that can be displayed immediately to the public. For example, how many people are unemployed, how many people work in the state-owned enterprise sector, how many people are of productive age, how many people died today, and so on.

Meanwhile, in the Jabung Village MSME Financial Management Application, MSME actors are taught how to manage their business finances. cash flow-is under control. Because with good and smooth financial management, they can automatically make a profit, thereby increasing their prosperity.

"This application is the result of a collaboration between fourth-semester students and lecturers. This application is certainly a form of community service, and we hope residents will find it beneficial," he explained.

Jabung Village Head Pramono Hadi stated that village development requires data and the ability to map existing potential. When village governments face limitations in human resources, funding, and other resources, the solution is to collaborate with various parties, such as companies, academics, universities, and others.

"We would like to thank Polines for finding solutions, assisting the Jabung Village Government, and providing this application. We hope this will help Jabung Village progress further and its residents prosper," he said.

Pramono Hadi added that when he was appointed village head in 2019, Jabung Village was categorized as an underdeveloped village.

"However, after two years of restructuring, with creativity and collaboration from various parties, in 2021, Jabung Village became a developing village, and in 2023, it became a developed village. This is because the village categories include very underdeveloped, underdeveloped, developing, advanced, and independent villages," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Community and Village Empowerment Service (Dispermasdes) of Klaten Regency, Wahyuni Sri Rahayu, expressed her gratitude for the cooperation and contribution from Polines to Jabung Village.

"We really need this kind of collaboration for the villages in Klaten Regency. Therefore, going forward, we hope that students participating in Klaten Community Service Programs (KKN) can help develop applications that streamline public service systems. We also want applications for MSMEs. This could serve as a pilot project for other villages. The budget for public services has been severely limited, and human resources are also lacking. Hopefully, this application will benefit the community," he said.

Relatedly, Klaten Regency DPRD Member, Eko Prasetyo, who was present on that occasion, also welcomed the breakthrough made by the Jabung Village Government.

"Community service is a key pillar of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. Therefore, the knowledge gained doesn't stop on campus. It also benefits the community through service. Because, in essence, the community and higher education institutions benefit each other. Community service serves as a bridge connecting theory with reality," said Eko.

In addition to the application submission, on that occasion, office administration training was also held which was attended by Jabung Village officials and digital marketing training with participants from Jabung Village actors.
