SEMARANG – Politeknik Negeri Semarang (Polines) held its 52nd graduation ceremony which was held at the Convention Hall of the Central Java Grand Mosque, Saturday (23/09/2023). Sending off the graduates and female graduates, Polines Director Prof. Totok Prasetyo said that successful alumni must be adaptive.
"Basically, successful college alumni must have an adaptive character, nothing is permanent in this world. "Be it work or other social problems, everything will definitely change by itself," he said during his speech.
According to Prof. Totok, adaptability will help in solving various complex problems. Therefore, never refuse to be faced with something new. This nature of adaptation must be accompanied by mastery hard skills and soft skills which are honed during the lecture period and everyday life.
"So, his life will be successful and happy, not only in this world, but also in the afterlife," he added.
Furthermore, Prof. Totok emphasized that by pursuing education at Polines for several years, graduates and female graduates should have the provisions to be able to respond to problems developing in society. However, as humans we cannot move alone.
"In the real world, in various work environments, we need to be able to work in teams or groups, exchange ideas and understand each other between team or group members, and collaborate and coordinate," he stressed.
Thus, the Director of Polines hopes that Polines graduates must have 4C skills, namely Critical Thinking or critical thinking, Collaboration or the ability to work well together, Communication or the ability to communicate, and Creativity or creativity.
“With abilities like this, the advantages you have can produce real contributions. "Ready to enter the world of work, a business world that is full of challenges," he added.
According to this figure who is also an alumnus of the Semarang State Polytechnic, graduation is not a sign to stop learning. The knowledge that has been previously obtained must be developed and applied in the community in solving problems. Then, Prof. Totok advised the graduates and graduate students to be brave figures. Dare to face risks by making careful calculations.
“Never be afraid to take measured risks, because success and victory belong to those who dare. "After all that the graduates have done, leave everything to Allah SWT, the Almighty God," he added.
He also advised graduates to continue to uphold the good name of their alma mater with full integrity, commitment, and provide positive feedback to their alma mater. Don't forget, alumni are invited to participate in improving the learning process in the future.
