International Project Based Learning with the title “Theory and Practice of Conservation, Restoration and Sustainable Use of Ecosystems in a Rural Area” which is the realization of the 2019 International Affairs Office Institutional Development (PKKUI) grant received by the Semarang State Polytechnic (POLINES) – Jakarta State Polytechnic (PNJ) – Semarang State University (UNNES) consortium from the Directorate of Research, Technology and Higher Education.
The 2019 International Project Based Learning (IPBL) was attended by 40 participants from 8 universities, namely Universiti Teknologi Mara (Malaysia), Sultan Idris Education University (Malaysia), Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (Malaysia), King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (Thailand) , Kasetsart University (Thailand), Jakarta State Polytechnic, Semarang State University, and Semarang State Polytechnic. Apart from coming from different universities, the participants also came from various different countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
The International Project Based Learning Program is a collaborative program organized by the Office of International Affairs of the Semarang State Polytechnic, Jakarta State Polytechnic, and Semarang State University. What makes International Project Based Learning 2019 special is that apart from this program aiming to develop students' experience in Planning, Renovation and Improvement of Ecosystem Management Systems, this program also aims to increase their cross-cultural understanding. It is hoped that after this program takes place, all participants can compete in this era of globalization and become more open in dealing with differences in culture, ethnicity, race and religion.
The opening ceremony of the IPBL 2019 program was held on August 5, 2019 in the Multipurpose Room of the Semarang State Polytechnic, which was opened directly by the Director of the Semarang State Polytechnic, Ir. Supriyadi, MT The IPBL program will last for 8 days, until August 12, 2019. Apart from the Semarang State Polytechnic campus, a series of IPBL activities will also take place in various locations including the Semarang State University campus, the north coast of Central Java for mangrove conservation activities, villages Munding tours and visits to elementary schools in the Semarang area to provide education to elementary school students about the importance of sanitation and conservation.
