SEMARANG – Politeknik Negeri Semarang (Polines) held the 2025 Electrical Expo at the Integrated Lecture Building on the Polines campus on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. The Electrical Expo is a routine event to promote Polines' electrical engineering study programs and encourage innovation in related fields.
Yusman Badruzzaman, ST, M.Eng., Head of the Electrical Engineering Department at Polines, stated that the Electrical Expo also serves as a platform to enhance the achievements of electrical engineering students at universities, high schools, and vocational schools. "It enhances the capacity of students to improve their skills in electrical engineering," he said.
Yusman explained that the Elektro Expo also features electrical engineering competitions for universities, vocational schools, and high schools. There are four categories: PLC and Scada, robot soccer/robot transporter, internet of things (IoT), and web/mobile-based UI/UK design.

This electrical engineering competition attracted participants from various regions, not just Semarang but also Malang, Bandung, Jakarta, and Medan.
"The competition begins with a preliminary round, with eight participants from each category advancing to the finals. So, those in the finals were selected in the preliminary round," he explained.
Meanwhile, Aris Sunindyo, SE MM, Deputy Director 3 for Student Affairs at Polines, stated that the Electro Expo is expected to produce discoveries and innovations based on the field of electronics. Polines showcased student innovations such as a metal sorting tool with a PLC-based pneumatic and SCADA system, as well as a soap cutting and pressing tool with a PLC-based pneumatic and SCADA system.
He hopes the latest innovations and findings from the Elektro Expo can contribute to the industry. Aris believes that the development of the electrical engineering sector is currently very advanced, but it needs further development and testing.
Aris emphasized that Polines supports its students' research. He explained that Polines has electrical-based Student Activity Units (UKMs), including robotics, informatics, mechanical engineering, and even electric car UKMs.
