SEMARANG – Politeknik Negeri Semarang (Polines), in collaboration with Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, officially launched the JagaRaya PilahBox Program on the first floor of the Integrated Lecture Building (GKT) on the Polines Campus on Thursday (12/18/2025). This program demonstrates a concrete collaboration to promote environmental awareness and the use of digital technology on campus.
The launch marked the inauguration of PilahBox, a plastic bottle collection machine that allows plastic bottle waste to be exchanged for IM3 mobile credit points. The JagaRaya PilahBox program is expected to foster the habit of sorting waste from an early age, especially among students.
In his remarks, Polines Director Dr. Garup Lambang Goro, ST, MT, expressed his appreciation for the strategic collaboration with Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison. He stated that the presence of PilahBox aligns with Polines' commitment as a vocational school that supports the concept of a green and sustainable campus.
"This program not only educates students about environmental care but also provides added value through the use of technology. We hope JagaRaya PilahBox can become a new culture on the Polines campus," he said.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Fahrurrozi, VP–Head of Branding and Marketing Communication for Java at Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, directly explained the technical aspects of using PilahBox. He explained that users simply enter their active IM3/Tri number, then insert a clean, empty plastic bottle into the PilahBox machine. Each bottle will be converted into points that can be collected and exchanged for phone credit.
"Through JagaRaya PilahBox, we want to encourage the younger generation to take real action to protect the environment in an easy, fun, and impactful way," he said.
Following the launch, Polines students enthusiastically tried out the PilahBox by collecting plastic bottles from around the campus. This activity symbolized the start of the JagaRaya PilahBox implementation at Polines and demonstrated the academic community's active participation in plastic waste management.
With the presence of JagaRaya PilahBox, Polines and Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison hope to strengthen synergy in supporting environmental sustainability and increase student awareness of the importance of responsible plastic waste management.
