SEMARANG – Politeknik Negeri Semarang (Polines) held an Open Senate Ceremony to welcome 2,807 new students for the 2024/2025 Academic Year. The event, which took place at the Polines Campus Green Field, Tembalang, Semarang, Monday (8/26/2024), was attended by senate members, officials, lecturers, education staff, student organization functionaries and new students.
The ceremony began with an official opening by Saniman Widodo, SE, MM (Chairman of the Polines Senate). Continued with an inspiring speech from the Director of Polines read by Aris Sunindyo, SE, MM as Deputy Director for Student Affairs and Alumni, who reminded new students about the importance of developing character, skills, and scientific insight in the academic and industrial world.
"Polines itself does not only focus on mastering theory but also developing practical skills that are relevant to the industrial world, so take advantage of every opportunity to learn, be active in organizations and excel in various competitions and don't hesitate to pursue your dreams," he said.
The peak of the event was filled with the pinning of alma mater jackets and hats to representatives of new students as an official symbol of their becoming part of the Polines family. The pinning was carried out by the Deputy Director of Student Affairs and Alumni of Polines in front of all participants of the ceremony. This moment is an important point for new students in starting their academic journey at Polines, as well as instilling a sense of pride as part of an excellent educational institution.
After the Polines Senate Open Ceremony, it was continued with the Alma Mater Insight and Academic Orientation (WaRNA Polines) activity. The WaRNA Polines event is the first step for 2,807 new students to get to know the campus world better and prepare themselves to face academic challenges in the future. In addition, WaRNA Polines also provides an understanding of the values of the alma mater, academic culture, and various information related to study programs at Polines.
This activity took place in an orderly manner and with great enthusiasm from the new students who were ready to undergo their education at the Semarang State Polytechnic. (ang/jul)
