SEMARANG – The Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) Mechanical Engineering Department team carried out community service activities for "Eternal Berkah" Goat Breeders in Kab. Magelang. This service is an activity funded by internal grant funds (DIPA) Polynes Competitive Community Service (PKM) scheme for Fiscal Year 2023.
This community service was chaired by Eni Safriana ST MEng consisting of Ragil Tri Indrawati ST MT, Farika Tono Putri ST MT and Wahyu Isti Nugroho SPd MT and assisted by two students implementing an organic fertilizer processing tool (APPO) as an effort to increase the marketability of goat manure waste. The target partners are "Eternal Blessing" Goat Farmers in Kab. Magelang.
In this community service activity, two main activities are carried out, namely, implementation of APPO. APPO is the right solution according to the needs of partners where the goat manure produced by goat livestock at the "Berkah Abadi" udder breeder has not been utilized optimally. This has negative impacts, including consuming land for waste and the pungent smell of goat droppings which continue to accumulate.
Goat farmer "Eternal Blessing"
seeks to reduce the accumulation of goat manure waste directly without going through a processing process first. Through the implementation of APPO, partners can process goat manure into organic fertilizer which has high marketability.
The second activity was training on the use of APPO which received a very good response from partners because the tool made it easier for partners to process goat manure into organic fertilizer. Apart from that, training activities are able to increase partners' insight and knowledge in the use of appropriate technology (TTG), especially APPO to assist in processing goat manure.
Overall, this community service activity can be a means of collaboration between lecturers, students and the community to jointly find solutions to problems that exist in the community.
Implementation of this activity began in June 2023 and continues until October 2023. The team is also monitoring the process of using APPO so that we can find out the impact of applying APPO to process goat manure into organic fertilizer which has high marketability for "Eternal Berkah" Goat Farmers in the District.
