ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY AND DISABLED, THE NEW POLINES BUILDING IS NAMED IGNATIUS DARMOJO BUILDING

Politeknik Negeri Semarang (Polines) inaugurated a new lecture building named the Integrated Lecture Building Ir. Ignatius Darmojo. The use of the name Ignatius Darmojo was carried out in honor of Ignatius Darmojo's services as the first Polines Director. 

"We will name this building as the Ignatius Darmojo Integrated Lecture Building. We have talked with the extended family of Mr. Ignatius Darmojo regarding the naming of this building," said Polines Director, Prof. Totok Prasetyo, in his speech during the inauguration of the Polines integrated lecture building, Friday (4-8-2023).

Ignatius Darmojo himself is the first Director of Polines to lead Polines since Polines officially became an independent institution in 1997. Previously, Polines was named Diponegoro University Polytechnic because it was under the auspices of Diponegoro University.

According to Prof. Totok, as the first director of Polines, Ignatius Darmojo has made a very big and meaningful contribution in putting good values to advance Polines to date. 

"Giving this name as an award for his services (Ignatius Darmojo, ed)," Prof. Totok added.

Environment and Disability Friendly 

Meanwhile, Polines Deputy Director for General Affairs and Finance, Karnowahadi, said that the construction of the building, which was financed through State Sharia Securities (SBSN), took about 13 months. The total budget used for construction costs is IDR 86 billion and IDR 15 billion for the purchase of furniture and supporting equipment.

To support student learning activities, this integrated lecture building has 53 theoretical classrooms with a capacity of 30 students which are equipped with wireless internet facilities.  

In addition, this building also has four classrooms which are referred to as smart classroom for the hybrid class. This class includes interactive flat panels (IFP), equipment smartclass, projector, PC unit, and wireless internet network.

"There are also nine lecturer rooms or lecturer transit rooms and administrative rooms," said Karnowahadi.

To facilitate student mobility, this eight-story building is equipped with an elevator or lift with a capacity of 1,000 kg which can accommodate 15 people. This building also has solar panel facilities to harvest sunlight into electrical energy making it more environmentally friendly.

This building is also friendly for persons with disabilities by providing disabled toilets on each floor. (Nan/Cecep)
