Inspiratif! Bulu Domba Wonosobo Untuk Produk Fashion

Wonosobo Sheep (Dombos) are Animal Genetic Resources (SDGH) originating from Wonosobo Regency. The characteristics of Dombos which have fast growth and thick fur and super quality make the economic use of Dombos in meat and fur very promising.

Fur Dombos can be processed into a variety of handicrafts with high economic value, one of which is done by MSME actors Ndhowon in Wonosobo. The products produced by these SMEs are in the form of fashion products such as shoes, headbands, caps, prayer mats, jackets and other products.

The Politeknik Negeri Semarang service team (Polines) consisting of Farika Tono Putri ST MT (Lecturer of Mechanical Engineering Department, Team Leader) with 2 members Ragil Tri Indrawati ST MT and Rizkha Ajeng Rochmatika and assisted by 3 students as a form of implementing MBKM in carrying out community service in Wonosobo, especially in Ndhowon SMEs.

"The assistance provided is in the form of the application of Appropriate Technology (TTG) in the form of a sheep paring machine and the application of integrated marketing communication as a strategy to increase productivity. The management of the Dombos fur fashion business carried out by Wibowo Ahmad so far has been carried out in a simple manner with machines developed by himself," said Farika Tono Putri ST MT to the press at the Polines campus, Friday (28/10/2022).

In the production aspect, all production processes are carried out with small-sized machines resulting from the development of the MSMEs. Production machines such as carding machines and spinning machines are made independently with small sizes. The problem in the production aspect is that there is no sheep parsing machine so that the process of decomposing the fleece is still done manually with human labor which causes high production costs. In the management aspect, there is a problem that so far, marketing has only been done through offline exhibitions.

“This community service is a Community Science and Technology Application (PIM) scheme funded by the Academic Directorate of Vocational Higher Education, the Directorate General of Vocational Education, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology for the 2022 Fiscal Year. The activity starts from June to November 2022. This program aims to to help solve the problems faced by MSMEs and other business actors as well as increase MSME production power," said Farika Tono Putri ST MT.

The results of this service activity are in the form of applying a fleece decomposing machine as Appropriate Technology (TTG) with a production capacity of 15kg/hour, making product branding in the form of logos and labels aimed at giving the characteristics of the identity of the Ndhowon MSME product and creating a product portfolio in the form of a website that can be used. accessed via the Ndhowon.com link which is integrated with 2 social media accounts and 1 e-commerce for online-based marketing to expand product marketing reach.
