This year, SPA Polines Path Enrollment Increases

Interest in entering new students on the Academic Potential Selection (SPA) path at the Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) continues to increase from year to year. It was recorded that until the closing of registration last week, the number of applicants for the SPA route in 2019 reached 4,187 people, an increase of 11% compared to the number of registrants the previous year.

 “This number has increased by 11 percent compared to last year. The student quota accepted through the SPA route is 450 people out of a total capacity of 1,600 new students," said Director of Polines Ir Supriyadi MT accompanied by Dadi, ST, M.Eng as the Head of the New Student Admissions Selection (SPMB) while reviewing the implementation of the SPA entrance exam. at the Tembalang campus, Sunday (3/3). Currently, said Supriyadi, Polines has been accredited as institution A from BAN-PT. Has 5 majors with 24 study programs spread at the level of diploma three, applied bachelor and applied master.

According to Supriyadi, the SPA route has been closed. However, prospective students still have the opportunity to enter through other channels. Polines accepts new students for the 2019/2020 academic year through three admission categories, namely the Invitation category, the Cooperation category, and the Written Examination category. In the Invitation category, the State Polytechnic Interest and Ability Tracking (PMDK-PN) is still open. Prospective participants can register online at one of the 43 State Polytechnics in Indonesia through this route until April 6.

Another route that is currently being opened is the Cooperation with PT PLN (Persero) and the Cooperation with PT Mekar Armada Jaya (MAJ), both of which are still open for registration until April 11. In the Cooperation category, there is also a collaboration path with Management Science University (MSU) Malaysia, which will only open registration from May to June. Meanwhile, in the Written Examination category other than the SPA pathway which has been closed, Polines will still open the State Polytechnic Entrance Exam (UMPN), the Independent Exam, the Advanced Applied Undergraduate pathway, and the Applied Masters postgraduate pathway (S2). Furthermore, according to the Director of Polines, the reasons for high school/vocational/MA/equivalent graduates to study at Polines include Vocational State Universities (PTN) which produce skilled and expert graduates and are ready to work in the business and technology industries. Also the study period at Polines is relatively shorter, namely three years for the Diploma Three program, 4 (four) years for the Applied Bachelor program and 2 (two) years for the Applied Master program.
