A Number of Polytechnics Attend an International Seminar Held by Polines

The Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) recently held an international consortium seminar attended by delegates from 22 polytechnic campuses in Indonesia.

This event was held as the first step in establishing the International Cooperation Forum among Polytechnics throughout Indonesia, at the Grand Candi Hotel, Semarang, recently.

This event presented speakers including Dr. Totok Prasetyo, BEng, MT (Director of Higher Education Institutional Development Kemristekdikti), Prof. Shiao Shing Chen, Ph.D (National Taipei University of Technology, Taiwan), and Dr. Jeng-Yih Hsu, (National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology, Taiwan).

In his presentation, Dr. Totok Prasetyo, BEng, MT said that the government is focusing on strengthening vocational education in Indonesia. This is based on preparing skilled workers who are ready to enter the world of work. Indonesia's demographic bonus may be beneficial for the nation, not the other way around. So that vocational education aims to prepare human resources who have adequate skills.

Head of the Office of International Affairs (KUI) Polines, Dra. Lusia M Silitonga, MPd, on a separate occasion said that the seminar was held with the aim of strengthening KUI Polines as well as sharing international cooperation between Polytechnics throughout Indonesia and building a network of cooperation between Polytechnics throughout Indonesia. In addition, to improve the quality, quantity, continuity and reciprocity of the initiation of international cooperation between polytechnics in Indonesia and higher education institutions abroad. "Through this event, it is hoped that the embryo of an international polytechnic cooperation forum in Indonesia can be formed," he said.
