The Village Community Empowerment Program (P2MD) is an activity organized by the Higher Education in the context of university service through student organizations to rural communities. In 2021 the Knowledge Development Student Activity Unit (UKM PP) of the Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) divided its members into three teams for the implementation of the program.
First team with activity title “Utilization of “Rumpi Japrit” (Emprit Ginger Smart House) through Village Community Empowerment so that Kebondowo Village Can Compete in Industry 4.0” which is located in Jrakah Hamlet, Kebondowo Village, Banyubiru District, Semarang Regency, Central Java has been successful through a series of P2MD implementation activities.
Team 1's P2MD activities involved the Kebondowo Village community as the main partners and the Tourism Office as a supporter of outreach activities. P2MD activities are carried out in August-December 2021 which are carried out regularly offline and of course obeying health protocols. The implementation of P2MD begins with a visit to the target village to coordinate and collect data. After that, the team held industry 4.0 socialization and various trainings. The training carried out, namely: training social media, product photo training, new product research training, packaging manufacturing training, training digital marketing and tourism training. In addition, the team provided a number of new tools to the village to support a more efficient production process. The activities did not only stop at the training process but continued with the procurement of "Rumpi Japrit" as a means of education and tourism for visitors. It is hoped that the existence of "Rumpi Japrit" will support marketing activities for Jahe Jalaran products and add tourism value to Kebondowo Village.
P2MD activities in 2021 went smoothly according to the plan that had been designed. In the future, the team will periodically monitor village developments and provide input to support the creation of Kebondowo Village that is able to compete in the industrial era 4.0.
