Researching the Language of Indonesian Migrant Workers in Hong Kong, Polines Lecturer Gets Doctorate at UNS

Dra. Netty Nurdiani, M.Hum, a lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) was declared a doctor after the promotion exam (open) for the Linguistics Doctoral Program, Postgraduate Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta, Thursday (15/8) in courtroom III, 6th floor , Postgraduate UNS, Jl. Ir. Sutami 36A, Kentingan Surakarta.

Promovenda delivered a dissertation with the title "Aprasial System of Indonesian Migrant Workers' Language in Hong Kong in Iqro Magazine and CahayaQu (Functional Systemic Linguistic Study)". As the Promoter, Prof. Dr. Djatmika, MA, Dr. Tri Wiratno, MA (Co. Promoter I), Prof. Dr. Sumarlam, MS (Co. Promoter II).

The purpose of this study is to describe Affect, Assessment and Appreciation as well as to explain the Sources of Attitudes and reasons why such things happen to Indonesian Migrant Workers (BMI) in Hong Kong to employers, friends, family and agents in magazines. Iqro and LightQu. Research on Appraisal is an evaluation that covers the domain of Attitudes and Attitude Sources in the study of Functional Systemic Linguistics.

From the analysis of the text about the Appraisal system, it can be said that there is a correlation between Unhappy Affect: Sadness, Judgment: Negative Normality and Reaction Appreciation: Negative Quality. The three Attitude subcategories work together to build the author's attitude in dealing with the problem.
