Android-Based LPG Gas Leakage Safety Device Made by Polines Students

Since the abolition of subsidies on kerosene by the government, many people have started to switch to using LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) gas cylinders for their daily needs. In early 2007, the government began to promote socialization regarding the use of LPG gas cylinders by making mini-sized LPG gas subsidies, which are expected to be used by the poor.

However, nowadays there have been several cases regarding the minimal level of safety in the use of LPG gas cylinders, as well as the lack of public understanding of the installation procedure which causes people to become increasingly restless and afraid to use LPG gas cylinders.

Seeing this phenomenon, aroused 3 Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) students, namely Moch. Fadhli Hidayat, Fathur Muhammad, Aliftha Ayu Kusumanggari for making works that are useful for the community. Accompanied by Bambang Supriyo, BSEE, MEngSc, Ph.D as assistant lecturer, the 3 students agreed to make an android-based LPG gas leak safety device.

According to Moh. Fadhli Hidayat, the LPG gas safety device which is abbreviated as "LPG Heater" by his team is a gas leak detector that combines the functions of various components such as the MQ-5 sensor, fire sensor, camera module, speaker module, flow rate sensor, Arduino Mega, and fan. DC brushless. "With the combination of several components, a cutting-edge technology is created to provide a sense of security for the community in the use of LPG gas," he explained.

Work system heating LPG using Arduino Mega which is integrated with the camera so that you can really monitor that there is an LPG gas leak and also use a flowmeter that can be used at low pressure to measure gas flow in the hose. The system used in this tool is really unique and original because when there is gas leaking on the LPG it will automatically detect and immediately throw the gas into the air and monitor it, just open the android application that has been created.

LPG HEATER It is also designed to provide a sense of comfort and safety to the public in using gas cylinders for cooking. So that this tool is equipped with an automation feature in removing gas that leaks in the tube and stove area so as to prevent gas contact with fire. The automation of this tool uses a fan as a exhaust fan and the solenoid will lock the gas flow in the gas hose in the event of a gas leak. In this tool there is also a fire sensor used to detect the presence of a flame on the stove. The gas sensor also functions to detect gas leaks in the tube and stove area. The speaker will give a sound notification when the condition of the equipment is dangerous, namely when there is a gas leak in the tube or stove.
