Intending to improve the welfare of pond farmers, the Student Creativity Program Team (PKM) of the Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) took the initiative to create an IoT-based pond water quality monitoring tool, named "Mantau Ma'am". In making Mantau Ma'am, the PKM Polines Team consisting of Maulana Widi Nurhidayat, Winstar Aji Mabrur, Refin Ananda Putra with Ilham Sayekti as a companion lecturer collaborated with the "Salemba" pond farmer group in Mororejo Village, Kaliwungu, Kendal.
Maulana Widi Nurhidayat (Team Leader), Tuesday (25/6) said that monitoring the quality of pond water can be done through a cellular phone (cell phone) in real time. "Using the ds18b20 temperature sensor (temperature)," he said. Other devices used include: analog turbidity sensor (turbidity), Dissolve Oxygen (oxygen level, TDS sensor (salt level) and PH sensor. "We use Arduino Nano as a microcontroller," he added.
In the past, measuring salt levels in ponds had to be done manually by relying on the sense of taste. said Sudiyono as a pond farmer. "After you have the Mantau tool, Ms. everything is easier," said Sudiyono as a pond farmer.
This Mantau Mbak made by the PKM Polines Team helps facilitate monitoring activities for pond water quality. “What makes it different from the others is that Mantau Mbak uses a salinity sensor to determine salt levels,' explained Yudi, head of the Salemba farmer group.
Water quality monitoring can be carried out for 24 hours in real time. With this the life expectancy of the fish will be higher. Pond farmers are no longer worried about the quality of pond water, especially at night. With the installation of Mantau Mbak, it is hoped that it will reduce the problems experienced by the farmers.
