PKM Polines Team Creates 'Sepik Panic' Innovation

Starting from the idea of utilizing waste paper rolls, a number of Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) students who are members of the Entrepreneurship Student Creativity Program (PKM) under their supervisor Dra Nurul Hamida MPd succeeded in creating innovative works which they called "sepik panic".

Sepik Panic is a speaker that functions as a loudspeaker as well as has aesthetic value as a neat display made from waste paper rolls. For the present, Sepik Panic is equipped with a Mini Digital Power Amplifier as an audio signal amplifier for loudspeakers.

Also, the Bluetooth Audio Module allows the sound source to be generated by a panic attack from a Bluetooth-enabled cellphone. It is also equipped with a USB port so that USB audio files can be read or played.

Chaired by Saputri Rizki Ramadhanti (Accounting Study Program) consisting of Joti Dina Kartikasari (Accounting), Alfian Muttoqim (Electrical Engineering), Umi Farida (Business Administration) and Amanda Oktaviani (Electrical Engineering), this speaker has succeeded in making speakers as well as having aesthetic value as a neat display. The price per unit of Sepik Panic ranges from Rp. 80,000 to Rp. 100,000 depending on the customer's wishes.

Although in the market there are many relatively cheaper speakers circulating, the PKM Polines team believes that Sepik Panic has advantages in aesthetic elements where in one product the customer gets 2 advantages, namely the speaker and the unique display itself. Marketing through personal selling and social media is quite in demand. Sepik Panic is believed to be present as a new innovation of environmentally friendly speakers.

“The system works using 3W4R speakers (3 watt 4 ohm type speakers) on the right side of the paper roll tube that functions as a loudspeaker. In the era of increasingly rapid technology, the need for speakers to play audio or music is very much needed, especially for teenagers. Although there are many speaker products in the market, our products implement creative and innovative products from the use of duplex paper waste.”

“The entry of new innovations in speakers is a huge market opportunity and the PKM team is trying to take this huge market opportunity by creating a frantic collaboration of audio speakers with unique displays with various attractive designs. This is to meet the needs of teenagers for speakers from paper waste but still contemporary with motifs that are tailored to the wishes of the customer," said Saputri Rizki R.
