In order to contribute to the development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in various regions in Central Java, the Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) is committed to assisting MSMEs in various business sectors so that their products are competitive.
One of the MSMEs that received assistance from Polines was a car replica craftsman made of wood in Boyolali Regency.
Boyolali so far has many MSMEs. However, most of these MSMEs still run their business with simple equipment. So it affects the quality of the product.
Head of the Polines Community Service Team for the Export Product Development Program (PPPE) in 2018, Sri Harmanto said with the addition of technology, MSMEs could develop and be able to compete. "Although in Boyolali there are many MSMEs wood craftsmen, not many have used this technology, even though it can help local government revenues," said Sri Harmanto on the sidelines of the recent delivery of appropriate technology assistance for Boyolali MSMEs.
Accompanied by Ahmad Supriyadi and Mochamad Abdul Kodir who are Polines lecturers and are members of the community service team, Sri Harmanto said, his team trained 2 (two) woodworking SMEs at TETAP JAYA ART and INDRA JAYA HANDYCRAFT in Kemiri Village, Mojosongo District, Boyolali Regency.
“These two MSMEs produce craft replicas of cars and children's toys made of wood, such as cars, replicas of Harley Davidson motorcycles, trains, planes, and others. Their marketing is not only domestic, but also overseas, such as: Japan, America, and several countries in Europe, such as: England, Germany, Spain, and Italy," he explained.
According to him, through PPPE's community service, his party managed to hold training on sawing and sanding wood in the two MSMEs. As a result, product quality increases because the wood surface is smoother. "The average selling price increased by 10 %," he said.
He also added that Polines is ready to help MSMEs in other cities. "MSME wood craftsmen in Boyolali are just an example of what we have done in community service activities," he concluded.
