The physical ability of the elderly will decline along with the aging process, thereby increasing the potential for falls. An elderly person who falls undetected for a long time will bring many possible consequences.
From these problems, the PKM-Karsa Cipta team at the Semarang State Polytechnic consisting of Faiz Pramuditya, Roni Apriantoro and Siti Jum'atun with the supervisor Tri Raharjo Yudantoro S.Kom., M.Kom. presents a fall detection suit for seniors based on realtime full body motion capture using Multiple Inertial Sensors. This technology is designed to use full-body motion capture technology, which provides a solution for remote monitoring of the movement of the elderly in real time by reducing the discomfort caused by excessive surveillance such as the camera. The combination of gyroscope and accelerometer sensors that are implanted in the clothes are used to detect every movement of the elderly based on the acceleration of angular changes. The results of the sensor readings are sent by the NodeMCU via the wifi network. If a fall is detected, the system will send a notification to the family along with the coordinates of the scene for further action to contact the nearest medical officer. The design power supply of this tool uses a power bank that can be used flexibly and it is easy to recharge with a 4G LTE connection to support data transfer speeds, so that notifications can be sent quickly and accurately. All sensors are packaged in the form of clothes so that they are easy to carry anywhere and provide comfort to the user. The monitoring application is packaged in a desktop and android-based application, used to receive sensor reading data, then an animated visualization of the movement is made with a stick-man skeleton figure that can be accessed live and realtime without being hindered by the dimensions of the place. With a visualization in the form of motion animation, the possibility of errors in determining the fall incident can be minimized. The android application is used to provide notifications if the sensor indicates a senior has fallen in the form of a push notification. With this fall detection suit for the elderly, we are given the convenience of monitoring movement activities in the elderly, and speed up the indication of first aid for seniors who fall by looking at the last position when the elderly fell.
