Veronika Putri Anggraini, a D3 Informatics Engineering student at the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) has succeeded in becoming one of six Indonesian students selected to represent Indonesia at the 2018 Google I/O event in the United States. To appear at this prestigious event, Veronika set aside hundreds of student representatives from universities throughout Indonesia.
Participants in the event were selected from Developer Student Club, or so-called DSC, which is a program from Google Developers designed to help college students and university students develop skills and knowledge in application development mobile and web. This program is open to all students and students with all levels of ability, from developer beginners who are just starting to learn to those who have become developer advanced level who want to develop their abilities. In this program, Google aims to provide a space for students and students to collaborate and learn together when solving problems in development mobile and web.
To support this program, Google is looking for talents from universities in Indonesia to become DSC leader. Leader will be in charge of preparing Developer Student Club (DSC) at their respective campuses. On the other hand, leader assigned to manage and share his knowledge regarding development web and mobile to fellow students as well as being a facilitator through several training sessions. Therefore, the leader must have the ability to lead, be able to manage the class, be passionate about teaching and training, good at communicating and speaking in public (including in English), have the ability to programming, as well as being able to solve life problems using technology and have skills in application development mobile or web.
The selection process was carried out in February 2018, which ended with the Google DSC Indonesia Summit 2018 which took place on 2-5 March 2018 in Bali. The event was attended by 60 selected students from all over Indonesia. At the event, Veronika became one of six Indonesian students who were successfully selected to take part in the 2018 Google I/O which will be held at The Shoreline Amphitheater, Mountain View, California, United States of America on 8-10 May 2018. The six selected students are from from college:
1. Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines)
2. Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB)
3. Hasanuddin University (Unhas)
4. Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University (UIN Suka)
5. Surabaya State Electronics Polytechnic (PENS)
6. Indonesian Computer University (Unikom).
