In the last week of the registration period for the Academic Potential Selection (SPA) Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines), applicants for this pathway began to increase rapidly. As of Monday morning (19/2), online registrants have exceeded 1,300 people and are predicted to continue to increase towards the end of the registration period on February 22, 2018.
The Chair of the New Student Admissions Selection Committee (SPMB) for the 2018/2019 Academic Year, Dadi ST MEng, explained that the typical SPMB registrant from year to year did show a rapidly increasing trend in the last days. He said this in the SPMB registration information room at the Semarang State Polytechnic at the Cooperation Building, 2nd floor of the Polines campus during the process of verifying registrant data by the committee. It should be, continued Dadi, it would be better if the registrant did not wait until the last time of registration. "This is intended so that participants do not experience difficulties in accessing the system due to the accumulation of queues for access to the server in the last days," he explained. “Participants who have registered online should also immediately pay a registration fee of Rp. 150,000 through the officer teller BNI46, so that the committee can immediately proceed to the data verification process," added the man who is also a lecturer at the Polynes Electrical Engineering Department.

Dadi further explained that the SPA pathway is intended for final year students or high school/MA/vocational high school graduates who wish to pursue higher education at Polines. After registering, SPA participants will undergo an academic test and get an SPA score. Furthermore, participants can choose a study program (maximum three study programs) that has a passing grade less than or equal to the SPA score obtained by the participant. The accepted participants are sorted from the participants with the highest SPA scores to the lower SPA scores (which are still above the passing grade of a study program) to the number of quotas in each study program. Meanwhile in his office, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs Akhmad Jamaah ST MEng said that the quota for new student admissions for the SPA pathway this year was around 439 people spread over 23 study programs at the Diploma Three and Applied Bachelor levels. (man)
