The success of Pak Gembus' Gepuk Chicken Brings Rido to appear on Kick Andy

Rido Nurul Adityawan (30 years old), a 2011 alumni of the Semarang State Polytechnic's Business Administration Department, has become one of the most successful young entrepreneurs in Indonesia. With the brand "Ayam Gepuk Pak Gembus" he founded, currently Rido has 640 outlets not only in Indonesia but also in Malaysia and Singapore, and will even continue to expand its business in other countries.

This was said by Rido when he appeared on the Kick Andy program which was broadcast on Metro TV on Friday night (16/2). Starting his chicken gepuk business in 2013, now Rido needs no less than 13 thousand chickens a day to fulfill his business needs. Through a franchise model that has been implemented since 2015, in the near future, Ayam Gepuk Pak Gembus outlets will also be opened in Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines and New Zealand.

This success is not obtained instantly but through hard work, perseverance, and innovation. He has nurtured an entrepreneurial spirit even since his college days. With the catfish farming program in Magelang, Rido won 1st place in the Student Creativity Program (PKM) and Student Entrepreneurship Program (PMW) which were organized by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture (at that time). Unfortunately, the eruption of Mount Merapi destroyed the catfish farming business that he started.

After graduating from college, Rido had time to travel in Kalimantan before deciding to wander in Jakarta and work as an employee in a company. Feeling that his soul is more suitable for entrepreneurship, Rido finally stopped being an employee and opened the Ayam Gepuk Pak Gembus business.

Besides Rido, Kick Andy also featured Taufik Hidayat (an alumnus of the Bandung State Polytechnic who became a mushroom entrepreneur), Agur Yake Mulia (an alumnus of the Sanata Dharma Polytechnic, the founder of the Rotobot Robot School), Tiyo Aviyanto (an alumnus of the Surabaya State Electronics Polytechnic, the founder of the Cubeacon Data Solutions company), and Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Menristekdikti) Prof. Mohamad Nasir Ph.D. Also present were representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of Canada.

Minister Nasir hopes that Polytechnic graduates will be able to become entrepreneur successful, and become a professional workforce. To achieve this, the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education has collaborated with ADB and the Government of Canada in the development of Polytechnic education, among others, so that Polytechnic lecturers have international certification in their fields of practice. With the existence of certified lecturers, it is hoped that Polytechnic graduates can also be certified so that when they enter the world of work their skills are immediately recognized.

On that occasion, the Minister also symbolically provided scholarships for 6,000 SMK graduates to continue their education at the Polytechnic. Minister Nasir also gave the opportunity to the four Polytechnic alumni who had succeeded in making startup company to visit Applied Sciences in Canada. (man)
