This is the Appearance of Kasmin's Mini Excavator in Semarang

Semarang – A man in the city of Semarang, Kasmin Riyadi (38), has succeeded in making an excavator, and it has even been in demand by entrepreneurs and has been sold. The man who graduated from the Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) gave his excavator the name 'Kasmino'.

Kasmin previously worked at a company in Jakarta which was engaged in industrial hydraulic services. Since 2005, he has chosen to start an industrial hydraulic service business.

“There are businessmen who know that I often service heavy equipment, and then there are those who try to order. That's 2012 for props," Kasmin said when met detik.com at his home and workshop, Jalan Nirwanasari Raya Number 14C RT 01 RW 01, Tembalang Village, Tembalang District, Monday (29/1/2018).

Seeing that someone was happy with his work, Kasmin was also motivated to make heavy equipment and dreamed of being able to compete with foreign-made heavy equipment. Even 'Kasmino' can only use 30 percent of the original ingredients from Indonesia, the rest is still imported.

"The original Indonesian body (frame) and cylinder. We are still lagging behind, this hydraulic motor is new to Poland. This cable is Italian. There should have been a development center for heavy equipment technology, so that it is not imported," he said.

On Kasmin's home page, an orange mini excavator or PC 70 type is displayed. Made in foreign countries, tools of the same type have a price of around Rp. 500 million, while 'Kasmino' is around Rp. 250 million.

“The ones in this house are only props, for example. The ones that have been used are in Demak, to dredge the ponds deeper. The price can be half of foreign made, "said the man from Cilacap.

With the name 'Kasmino', he hopes that his excavator will be easy to remember and can be in line with foreign products. The addition of the letter 'o' itself to resemble the Japanese name. “Just like the Japanese name, give it an O. Hopefully it can line up with Sumitomo, Nagano, or others. But the name is also very Indonesian," he said.

To make one heavy equipment weighing about 500 kg, Kasmin was assisted by four assistants. Because all the work is done manually, it takes 1 to 2 months.

Furthermore, Kasmin also admitted that he had written to President Joko Widodo asking for production support. The letter sent on July 15, 2017 was responded to and replied to by the Ministry of State Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia.

In the reply letter, Kasmin was asked to contact the Ministry of Industry. Then Kasmin contacted the local government and had participated in an exhibition at PRPP Semarang.

"Pak Ganjar (Governor of Central Java) bought one through the Central Java Research and Development Agency," he said.

Next Wednesday (31/1), Kasmin will go to Jakarta to present 'Kasmino' at the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education. He hopes that the tool he made can follow the incubator program so that it can grow even more.

“If we can make excavators, I believe Indonesia can make other heavy equipment because this is the most difficult. There are still many better nation's children out there who can make it, Indonesia certainly can," said Kasmin.
