Polines Wins Second Place in 2017 Indonesian Bridge Competition

Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) students have made another achievement. This time students majoring in Civil Engineering Polines who are members of the Sipondra Arc Team with the work "Nattaya Irgiya" won second place in the Arc Bridge Category in the 13th Indonesian Bridge Competition (KJI-XIII) which was held at the Malang State Polytechnic campus, last weekend. .

In this year's competition with the theme "Sturdy, Light, Aesthetic, and Archipelago-minded Bridge", Polines is the only university representative from Central Java who passed the final round in activities organized by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education with the Polytechnic The State of Malang as the executor of the activity. In this KJI, there are 3 categories of bridges competed. Namely, the Steel Bridge (7 finalists), Cold Canai Bridge (7 finalists) and Bow Bridge (8 finalists).

The Polines team and their entourage when they arrived in Semarang were greeted by the Director at the Polines campus, Tembalang, Monday (13/11). Director of Polines, Ir. Supriyadi, MT said that this victory added to the list of champions achieved by Polines students at the end of 2017. "Continue to excel and maintain this achievement," he said. Maintaining achievement, he continued, by conducting good regeneration for team members. Knowledge and experience from the previous team can be passed on to the next team.

Deputy Director for Student Affairs at Polines, Rustono, SE, MM, said that in the 2017 Indonesian XIII Bridge Contest, there were 2 Polines teams that passed as finalists. Namely, the Kamandika Team with the work of the Candhabirawa Bridge bridge was in the final for the Cold Canai Bridge Category and the Sipondra Arc Team with the work of Nattaya Irgiya was a finalist in the Arc Bridge Category. "We are grateful that one team has qualified as champions," he said proudly.

The Sipondra Bow Team, consisting of Ahmad Rif'an (Chairman) with members Dwika Ramadhan and Muhammad Irfanda. With the supervisor, Triwardaya, ST, MT. Team Leader, Rachmaditya said he was grateful for the achievements his team had achieved. "We are grateful to be able to bring home the championship title," he said. The winners of the bow bridge category were Universitas Brawijaya (1st place), Polines (2nd place) and University of Indonesia (3rd place).

In this competition, teams had to build a pedestrian long-span bridge (Arc Bridge). The Arc Bridge being contested is a prototype of the actual arc bridge with a span of 132 m, and a bridge floor width of 7 m. The bridge model is a representation that is made smaller than the actual bridge size with a scale of 1:100 made of rattan and plywood or a combination of materials. In this competition, the factors assessed by the jury are the evaluation criteria based on the elements of structural robustness/performance, the most beautiful, and the compatibility between the implementation and the initial design.
