The Semarang State Polytechnic Community Service Team (Polines) provided assistance to 14 micro industries. processing snacks belonging to the Joint Business Group (KUB) Jambearum Village, Kendal. Assistance in the form of marketing management training and assistance in production equipment. The training activity took place at the Azh-Zahrah micro-industry in, Jambearum, Patebon, Kendal recently.
The Polines team consists of Siti Arbainah, SE. MM and Sugiarti, SE. M.Si. from the Department of Accounting, and Gifti Utami, SE. MM from Jur Business Administration. According to Siti Arbainah, SE. MM as the team leader, this Competitive Community Service activity was carried out with DIPA Polines funds in 2017. "This kind of activity was initiated in 2015 and carried out continuously for the empowerment of the micro snack food processing industry in Jambearum, Kendal as a foster partner of P3M Polines," he explained.
Assistance consists of management training, delivery of production equipment and periodic monitoring. Current marketing management training includes "How to Market a Snack Business" by Siti Arbainah, SE.MM, and "Improving MSME Competitiveness Through Consumer Satisfaction by Gifti Utami, SE. MM. The activity was also attended by owners/managers of the micro snack food processing industry, including Nanda, Alamia, NH, Azh-Zahrah, Lezzat, AM, FAIQ Donat, Salsabila, Diah and others who produce snacks such as banana chips, tumpi, mash, chips. tempeh, snacks and pastries, crackers, donuts, egg rolls and others.
"Their enthusiasm for participating in this mentoring activity is very high because some of them have felt the benefits," said Siti. Like Azh-Zahrah and AM, last year, they received the assistance of a mixer and grinder for glutinous rice chips which can increase the speed of the production process, from 20 minutes to 5 minutes per milling process.
At the end of this activity, questionnaires were filled out to formulate needs and problems, to find solutions. Furthermore, the assistance of production equipment was handed over as a stimulant to increase production capacity in the micro industry. The tools include frog scales for NH, a frying pan and its accessories for Nanda, large plastic containers for Alamia as well as a drying tool for products made of aluminum to replace the original from rotten bamboo for Azh-Zahrah.
