Great, Polines Students Win Gold at PIMNAS Makassar

The long preparations carried out by the Student Creativity Program (PKM) Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) team finally paid off. Polines departing with

2 (two) teams, one team of PKM Karsa Cipta (PKM-KC) and one team of PKM Entrepreneurship (PKM-K) to the prestigious 30th National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS) which took place at the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) Makassar, 23-28 August 2017 finally managed to bring home a gold medal.

The PKM Polines team that won the gold for the PKM-K Pimnas poster was the PKM Kewirausahaan (PKM-K) team consisting of Yunita Kholida Zahra, Nofitasari and Rizki Ulfiani with their creations in the form of Batik Plat H.

Deputy Director for Student Affairs Polines, Rustono, SE, MM admitted that he was grateful for the achievements of students in this Pimnas event. "Hopefully this golden achievement can motivate students to work even more," said Rustono.

The work of the Batik Plate H motif combines the typical patterns of motifs from 4 areas with H plate plates, the areas are Semarang, Demak, Kendal, and Salatiga. Namely, motifs from Semarang (tamarind flower motif, tamarind leaf, blekok srondol bird, lawang sewu), Kendal (suweg flower motif), Demak (watermelon moor motif), and Salatiga (plumungan stone motif). Yunita (Team Leader) said that this idea originated from her concern for our culture which was almost recognized by other countries. "The reason is the weak legal protection of cultural wealth, the lack of public awareness to love and preserve the original culture of Indonesia," said Yunita.

From this, the team seeks to elevate batik to become an important part of the fashion world, namely creating batik creations in the form of product designs that are more up to date, while still paying attention to the meaning of the batik. The design pattern is made unique by combining different patterns. Plus color gradations and the incorporation of beautiful motif patterns. The Batik Plat H motif can increase the selling value of the product, and maintain its function as a unique, fashionable, visually informative clothing requirement, and participate in maintaining the original Indonesian culture.
