Director of Polines Officially Accepts 1,546 New Students

As a vocational education provider, Polines has the mandate to develop skills and reasoning in the application of science and technology.

Deputy Director for Academic Affairs of Polines Akhmad Jamaah ST, M.Eng in his report revealed that of the six new student entry pathways, the number of applicants for the third diploma and applied undergraduate levels in five majors with 23 study programs (Prodi), the registrants reached 22,872 people. Of these, only 1,546 people were accepted. "There was an increase in registrants of 2,887 people (14.44 %) compared to last year," he said. The increase in the interest of new student registrants so that this year the competition for seats is getting tougher. The need for industries that want ready-to-work and qualified workers is one of the reasons for the high interest in continuing to Polynes.

In addition to the regular route, Polines also accepts new students through the Higher Education Affirmation (Adik) program, which is a collaboration program between the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education with 13 local governments in Indonesia. In this program, Polines accepts 9 new students. "This year as many as 204 new students qualify as recipients of Bidikmisi tuition assistance," he explained.

What is unique about the initial activities of new Polines students is the Basic Discipline Training (LDK), as an effort to galvanize discipline and national insight which lasts for three days. LDK activities were carried out at the National Defense Dodik, Rindam IV Diponegoro, Magelang. After the LDK students attend orientation through Alma mater Insights and Academic Orientation (Color). Through these various activities, students are expected to get to know the pattern of study at the polytechnic and the life of the campus environment. Furthermore, students take part in Pesima (Student Spiritual Debriefing).
