Postgraduate Semarang State University (Unnes) Friday (30/12/2016). Acting as the promoter is Prof. Dr. Rasdi Ekosiswoyo, Prof. Dr. DYP Sugiharto, and Prof. Dr. Totok Sumaryanto.
Suharto through his dissertation entitled "Development of a Management Model for Vocational Higher Education Based on Industrial Partnerships in Engineering" conveyed the need for intensive partnerships for vocational universities with the industrial world. This research is based on the Research and Development (R and D) model. "This study is supported by research at five vocational universities, namely Semarang State Polytechnic, ATMI Polytechnic Surakarta, Bandung Manufacturing Polytechnic, Ceper Manufacturing Polytechnic, and PIKA Semarang Academy. From this research, it is concluded that the partnership program of vocational universities with the industrial world can improve the performance of education management," he explained. In addition, the partnership program can also have the effect of increasing the intensity of industrial relations, quality, strategic technology environment, and implementing total quality management education. In the end, vocational universities need to evaluate the IQF-based curriculum, and be adaptive to the development of applied technology.
The dissertation has been defended before a team of examiners consisting of Prof. Dr. Fathur Rokhman (Rector of Unnes), Prof. Dr. Achmad Slamet (Director of the Unnes Postgraduate Program), and Dr. Totok Prasetyo (Director of Institutional Development Kemristekdikti, as external examiner). In addition, also Prof. Dr. Soesanto, Prof. Dr. Wahyu H., and Dr. Titi Concerned. "The suggestion to managers of vocational tertiary institutions is to implement synergistic partnerships with stakeholders, especially industry, in implementing the Tridharma of Higher Education and downstreaming research results. This will produce outputs that encourage improvement in the quality and relevance of education to the world of work. The outcomes are waiting times, science and technology achievements and campus innovations that are beneficial for society and industry," said the lecturer of the Mechanical Engineering Department of Polines.
Husband of Isti Banat AS, SH, M.Kn. (an employee of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk Semarang) and the father of Dewi Aisya Afifa Hanif (a student at the Faculty of Law UGM) regretted that the collaboration between vocational universities and industry was still limited to industrial visits, field work practices, curriculum validation, lectures with guest lecturers from industry, opening collaboration classes with industry, and recruiting employees.
