Polines and PDAM Tirta Moedal Establish Strategic Partnership to Strengthen Vocational Education

SEMARANG – Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) has officially established a partnership with the Semarang City Regional Drinking Water Company Tirta Moedal through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Semarang PDAM Ballroom on Wednesday (June 24). This agreement opens up broad collaboration opportunities for all departments at Polines in the fields of education, research, community service, and human resource development.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Ir. Kurnianingsih ST, MT, Deputy Director of Cooperation, Public Relations, and Information Systems at Polines, along with Ady Setiawan, President Director of the Semarang City Regional Drinking Water Company Tirta Moedal. This collaboration is a strategic step in strengthening the connection between vocational education and the needs of the workforce and public services.

Dr. Ir. Kurnianingsih ST, MT, stated that the partnership is designed to provide benefits to all departments within Polines. Through this collaboration, students and faculty have greater opportunities to be directly involved in various programs relevant to the needs of industry and society.

The scope of the collaboration covers four main areas. First, a student internship program within the Tirta Moedal Water Company (PDAM) to provide real-world work experience in the public service and clean water management sectors. Second, joint research connecting Polines' academic capacity with PDAM's innovation needs, particularly in infrastructure management and customer service improvement.

Third, the development of community service programs supported by PDAM Tirta Moedal's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. This program is expected to make a tangible contribution to community empowerment while strengthening the role of vocational colleges in regional development. Fourth, the implementation of guest lectures and teaching practice programs that bring PDAM professionals into classrooms to share their industry experiences and insights with students.

As a regional company providing clean water services to the people of Semarang, PDAM Tirta Moedal is considered to have strong relevance to various disciplines at Polines. This partnership, which extends beyond engineering, also opens up opportunities for collaboration in accounting, business administration, information systems, human resource management, and customer service.

Through the signing of this MoU, Polines reaffirms its commitment to expanding its partnership network with businesses, industry, and government. The resulting synergy is expected to support improvements in the quality of vocational education while producing graduates who are adaptable, competent, and prepared to face the challenges of the workplace.

Follow-up to the collaboration will be immediately coordinated by the Cooperation, Public Relations, and Information Systems Division of Polines together with related units at PDAM Tirta Moedal Semarang City so that the various programs that have been agreed upon can be immediately realized and provide benefits for both institutions.
