FKMPI TEAM OPEN DISCUSSION 2021/2022

In Indonesia, climate issues are a hot topic. As a country with extensive tropical forest cover, Indonesia plays a role in stopping the increase in the earth's temperature. However, over time, it turns out that forests in Indonesia are experiencing increasingly severe deforestation. Instead of putting the brakes on the increase in the earth's temperature, it actually contributes to the increase in the earth's temperature. This is one of the many factors for the sinking of the Indonesian coast.

The Open Discussion Work Program is a discussion forum held by the Division of Study and Strategy of the FKMPI Polines 2021/2022 Team. This discussion forum is packaged in the form of "Watching Together and Discussing" with the theme "United Action to Save the Mother Earth". The material that will be raised in this discussion forum is about "Real Threats to the Climate Crisis and Deforestation for Indonesian Coastal Communities". The purpose of holding this discussion forum is none other than a place for student discussions about the Climate Crisis that occurred in the coastal areas of Indonesia. In addition, this open discussion forum is one step to open critical thinking as students which is closely related to the role of students as Agents of Change which hopes to bring change to the community and the campus environment by thinking progressively and dynamically about the current climate crisis polemic. happened in Indonesia.

This discussion forum was held on February 19, 2022 and was attended by representatives of Semarang State Polytechnic students who are members of the Student Organization and Semarang State Polytechnic students. This open discussion also invited speakers, namely Patria as the Chair of the Indonesian Forum for the Environment (WALHI) Central Java. The discussion of this topic was carried out offline/face to face at Burjo Millenial Tembalang. The event started at 19.00-22.00 WIB, with the opening by the MC then continued with an introductory presentation of the film before watching a joint film about the Climate Crisis and Deforestation in Indonesia. After that, the film was shown and continued with the presentation of material by the Chairman of the Indonesian Forum for the Environment (WALHI) Central Java. After that, a discussion session between the audience and material lighters was continued for 45 minutes, and finally closed with a conclusion by the speaker and moderator.

The discussion started with the presentation of the climate crisis material by the speaker, while the material presented was about the following

  1. What is the climate crisis and deforestation?
  2. What is the status of the climate crisis and deforestation in Indonesia?
  3. What are the causes of the Climate Crisis in Indonesia?
  4. What is the cause of Indonesia's coastal land subsidence and how is it related to the climate crisis and deforestation in Indonesia?
  5. What strategic steps should the government take to address this?
  6. What is the attitude of students towards government policies in handling this matter and what should be the attitude of students as intellectuals?

The conclusion from the discussion of this topic is that we will definitely be affected by climate change that is happening in Indonesia, such as in Semarang in 2021 there will be flooding because in the Upper Semarang area it has started to bald, the water will fall to the lower Semarang area, resulting in flooding, rain is also getting worse. heavy. So, don't let our generation be negatively affected, but we can also provide solutions to the problem of climate change. This climate crisis and deforestation we can weigh and realize that we are doing the wrong thing and can start contributing small good things, which can help reduce and even tackle climate change.
