Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo Catches Polines Students Buying PKL Tembalang

A number of Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) students were seen hanging around in their alma mater jackets, Saturday (31/7/2021) morning. They seemed to come to the street vendors one by one on Jalan Prof. Soedharto Tembalang.

Apparently the Polines students were holding a social action to buy up street vendors' merchandise to be distributed to the public. This action was caught by the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, who was passing by on his bicycle.

“This again what are you doing, looking for breakfast?” who is Ganjar?

"Yes sir, looking for breakfast all" wrap up for those in need,” said one student.

Ganjar who then stopped, took the time to chat with the students and traders.

Giri Ramadani, one of the students explained that this morning there were four street vendors whose wares would be purchased. From pecel stalls, market snacks, rice wraps, to fresh milk. The purchased merchandise is then distributed to people in need, such as motorcycle taxi drivers, street sweepers, parking attendants, and others.

"Previously we opened student donations, the proceeds were bought for food and drinks from traders, then distributed to people in need," he said.

Sani, a pecel rice trader, said he was happy because his merchandise was immediately sold out by students. He hopes such actions can be carried out more often.

"As long as PPKM is frankly quiet, sales are empty. WL how come it's early in the morning wholesale, " he said.

Governor Ganjar Pranowo also appreciated what the students were doing.

"That is interesting. Earlier, I met a Polines student on a bicycle. It turned out that they mobilized their friends and collected donations, then bought them at the stalls. I had visited at three points. They buy at the hawker stalls, there are food stalls. There are 30 packs, there are 50 packs," said Ganjar when met after cycling.

He welcomed the students' willingness to take to the streets to take real actions to help the community. The action carried out by Polines students is a pattern that is starting to show signs in Central Java.

“This is a pattern that I have seen starting to manifest in Central Java. Yesterday there were from the Cipayung group, today there are students. I hope that children from other universities can imitate so that they encourage their friends, seek donations with all their creations, and continue to buy in people's stalls. They also already know where it will be distributed. I appreciate it, it's great," said Ganjar. (Central Java Public Relations).
