Limited capital, equipment, production capacity and very minimal knowledge of bookkeeping have become various obstacles faced by Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in developing their businesses. On the other hand, universities have responsibilities in the tri dharma, namely community service in addition to other dharmas, namely Education and Research.
The role of universities in this case the Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) as a vocational college is very much needed by the community. This is what underlies us to provide assistance to welding workshop SMEs in the Tembalang area, namely Workshop SMEs Las D'Group through the community service program at the Polines Dipa Fund in 2020, said the Polines lecturer Drs. Paryono, SST, MT, who was accompanied by 2 other Polines lecturers namely LY Sutadi, ST, MT and Hartono, SE, MM, at the Tembalang campus yesterday (10/11).
He explained that the UKM is engaged in welding workshops that produce, among others, Canopies, Fences, Push Doors, Balconies, Stair Railings, Rotating Stairs, Trellis, Canopies, Light Steel Roof Frames, Minimalist/Forged, etc.
The market for these SMEs is still spun up and down, which so far have been very difficult to work on curved shapes or curves, either fences, canopies or others, which so far to overcome this problem I have always been thrown to other companies so that it will reduce their profit margins, by With this assistance, namely roller equipment for rectangular and round pipes of various sizes, SMEs no longer have difficulty working on these shapes.
