New Polines Students Trained in Discipline and State Defense

A total of 1,902 new students at the Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) participated in the Basic Discipline Training (LDK). The official opening took place at the Regional Military Parent Regiment (Rindam) IV/Diponegoro, Magelang, Sunday (18/8).

When opening the LDK, Dan Rindam IV/Diponegoro, Infantry Colonel Amrin Ibrahim, SIP, in a speech read by Acting. Wadan Rindam IV Diponegoro Col. inf. Iwan Rosan Driyanto. SIP said discipline, national defense and love for the homeland are things that must be possessed by the younger generation, including students, as cadres of future leaders of the nation. "Discipline, the attitude of defending the country and love for the homeland must be owned by the younger generation," he stressed. Therefore, he continued, it was appropriate for Polines to carry out this LDK. Although only in a short time, at least it can instill mutual respect between fellow students, between students and lecturers, as well as students and their leaders during the implementation of this education. "In the end, this attitude can be applied on campus and in the community," he hoped.

Today we are faced with situations and conditions as well as the dynamics of life as a result of the demands of the times and the existence of high competitiveness, especially in science where the ability to develop science and technology, especially education, has progressed rapidly. On the other hand, the development of the world of education is also increasing and modern because it is supported by the quality of human resources and adequate facilities and infrastructure.

 “Effective, efficient, modern and professional students are supported by discipline, sincerity and a sense of responsibility, he explained.

Director of Polines, Ir. Supriyadi, MT said LDK is an initial activity that must be followed by new Polines students. "Through LDK, the values of discipline, national insight and national defense are instilled," he said. Indonesia, he continued, needs students who in all their activities are based on love and pride for the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, this spirit will produce students with character and achievements. "For the next 3 days, you will be educated and trained to have high discipline to become students with excellent character, achievement," he explained.

Initial activities for new Polines students included Basic Discipline Training (LDK), Student Spiritual Week (Pesima) and Warna. New students who take part in LDK activities which last 3 (three) days are divided into 3 (three) waves which last until August 26, 2019.
