Batik is one of the identities of this nation that must be respected, preserved and promoted, as stated by Sukardi Rinakit in an electronic newspaper. nusakini.com 4 october 2017 namely "This is nation branding, this is our identity (batik), this unites us, this is actually our economic source". From what has been conveyed by Sukardi Rinakit, the opportunity for batik commodities is very large, but the process of making batik which takes a long time and a long process makes the number of batik that can be produced is not much.
Reported in an electronic newspaper Suaramerdeka.com Wednesday, September 19 2018 that one of the batik craftsmen of the Thematic Kampong Hasta Karya Siti Kholifah said it would take two to three months to produce written batik. According to him, one of the factors that lead to the old batik production process is the material selection process and also the canting pattern process, which requires tenacity and accuracy. If the canting pattern can be made quickly, the batik production process will be shorter and the amount of production will increase. Desiring to help the productivity of written batik cloth, the PKM Team for the Cipta Karsa field led by Galuh Wicaksono, with its members, Eva Fatmawati and Kevin Kurniawan, students of the D3-Electronic Engineering study program, majoring in Electrical Engineering with Ilham Sayekti ST, M, Kom as supervisors succeeded in making innovation of a tool that can print written batik patterns with an electric canting called SI CANTIK.
SI CANTIK (Electronic Batik Pattern Printing Machine) is a prototype tool made to automatically print batik patterns that have a working dimension of 50 x 75 cm. SI CANTIK uses Arduino Mega 2560 as the core of the processor, stepper motors as actuators, CNC shields as media interfaces (interfaces) between the processor and the actuator, and the electric canting as a candle holder as well as the media describing the written batik pattern onto the fabric in the process of printing the written batik pattern. The tool is also equipped with a temperature sensor on the heater which functions to control the temperature value on the heater so that it remains stable, so that the quality of the batik wax that is removed from the canting remains the same. From the results of the reset, the wax will melt completely (not too stiff and not too liquid) at a temperature of 65-70℃ .
This tool can work on patterns for 24 hours / once a day, so it can reduce the processing time of the implanting process. This tool has advantages in terms of speed and precision in working batik patterns. With these advantages, the productivity of batik craftsmen can increase. SI BEAUTIFUL has great potential to be developed as a mass product in today's increasingly advanced era.
