Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) continues to collaborate with various universities abroad. This time the collaboration was established with the Jiangsu Vocational Institute of Architectural Technology (JSVIAT) China. It was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding between institutions by Ir. Supriyadi, MT (Director of Polines) with Professor Sun Jin (Chairman of JSVIAT) in the Director's Meeting Room, Polines Campus, Tembalang, Semarang, Wednesday (19/6). Also attending this event were the leaders of the two institutions.
Director of Polines, Ir. Supriyadi, MT in his speech said that this collaboration is a commitment from Polines to establish cooperation with various higher education institutions abroad. "Various programs to increase the competitiveness of graduates and higher education performance have been designed in this collaboration," he said. Polines will start cooperation with JSVIAT starting with student and lecturer exchange programs, joint research, and credit transfers. Then in a further stage, they will plan a double/join degree program.
While Prof. Sun Jin (JSVIAT Chairman) introduced the JSVIAT campus which is one of the best vocational higher education institutions in Jiangsu city and in China. "We have more than 50 study programs," he explained. Most of his majors in architecture and civil engineering. In addition, he also has majors in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, communication, business, finance and hospitality. He added, JSVIAT is ranked first in all vocational education in China in terms of alumni satisfaction
Prof. Wang Jing (Head of JSVIAT international office) who was also present during the visit also explained that since the last 2 years, JSVIAT has received many international students from Southeast Asian countries. "In addition, it also sends students to Southeast Asian countries," he said.
In the discussion on the development of cooperation, the two institutions agreed to conduct reciprocal exchanges of lecturers and students. The first step of cooperation will begin with student exchanges to take sort courses or join summer camps that will be held by each institution.
Polines plans to invite students from JSVIAT to join the annual summer camp held by Polines in August every year.
At the age of discussion, the JSVIAT group had the opportunity to tour the campus to see the laboratories and classes at Polines. In this campus tour, the JSVIAT delegation found many similarities in teaching systems and laboratories between Polines and JSVIAT.
