Head of the Electrical Engineering Department at Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines), Dr Amin Suharjono ST MT was a speaker at the Public Lecture on the Muria Kudus University (UMK) campus Monday 15 April 2019. Taking the theme of Industry 4.0 Opportunities and Challenges for Electrical Engineering Graduates, this public lecture was attended by around 100 students and lecturers in the UMK Electrical Engineering S1 Study Program.
Head of the UMK Electrical Engineering Undergraduate Study Program Mohammad Iqbal ST MT in his speech said that this public lecture was an activity that was routinely held with academics from other universities, in addition to guest lectures which invited speakers from the industrial world. These two activities are intended to equip students, so that students get additional knowledge and knowledge from outside the UMK campus.
Moderated by Budi Gunawan ST MT, Dr Amin started his lecture material by explaining milestones The Industrial Revolution started from the Industrial Revolution 1.0 (1748), the 2.0 Industrial Revolution (1870), the 3.0 Industrial Revolution (1969) and the 4.0 Industrial Revolution (currently), along with the characteristics of each stage. The key essence of the Industry 4.0 concept is increasing the efficiency of industrial processes through the use of connectivity and information and communication technology, with five characteristics, namely: interconnection, data, integration, innovation, and transition.
Dr. Amin further explained about the key technologies in the Industrial Revolution 4.0, namely Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Advanced Robotic, Virtual Reality, and 3D Printing. Also explained about new emerging technologies related to Industry 4.0. The question that then arises is: Is Industry 4.0 an opportunity or a challenge? For those who are unable to anticipate technological developments, this is a challenge, even a threat. However, the younger generation, especially students, will be able to turn these challenges into opportunities, by mastering key technologies in Industry 4.0.
Students were very enthusiastic about participating in this public lecture and asked several questions, including those related to data security related to the implementation of Industry 4.0. The general lecture session ended with a group photo between the speakers, lecturers, and students who were present.[MAN]
