Polines Collaborates with XL Axiata in the Development of Internet of Things (IoT) Technology

As a vocational college, the Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) continues to increase its role in the application of technology. One technology that is currently and will develop in society is the Internet of Things (IoT). The general principle of IoT technology is to connect various devices, both devices for individual and industrial activities, to the internet network. With this connection, users can monitor and control these devices remotely via gadgets.

One of these efforts was carried out through the collaboration of Polines with XL Axiata in the XL Axiata IoT Innovation Lab program. This laboratory was built under the name X-Camp, Rumah IoT Indonesia. X-Camp is the result of collaboration between XL Axiata and 4 universities, namely Polines, UGM, Unibraw, and PENS Surabaya.

The IoT Lab, named X-Camp, was inaugurated by the Minister of Communication and Information, Rudiantara and the Minister of Industry, Airlangga Hartarto together with the President Director of XL Axiata, Dian Siswarini at Graha XL Axiata Jakarta (11/13/2018).

Not only facilitating individual and industrial activities, business-wise, IoT has great potential and allows it to be developed more widely in Indonesia. Seeing this potential, PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) built a laboratory (lab) which will be a meeting place for all stakeholders (stakeholders) to jointly develop the IoT ecosystem in Indonesia starting from idea generation to business implementation.

Currently X-Camp has collaborated with a number of leading campuses in Indonesia, including Gadjah Mada University Yogyakarta, Brawijaya University Malang, Semarang State Polytechnic, Surabaya State Electronics Polytechnic," he explained. And following several other universities as part of the program X-Camp Lab Alliance together to build a sustainable IoT ecosystem.

Director of Polines, Ir. Supriyadi, MT said he was proud of XL Axiata's trust in cooperating with Polines in this program. "Through this program, Polines may participate in the application and development of technology for the needs of the community," he said. Specifically for X-Camp at Polines, his party has provided a special IoT laboratory room with a size of about 80m2 on the 3rd floor applied master building. This laboratory is expected to be used by students and lecturers to conduct research and development of IoT-based products with full infrastructure support from XL. -Axiata. In fact, this lab is expected to become an IoT innovation center for IoT developers in Semarang and its surroundings.
