Department of Electrical Engineering Semarang State Polytechnic held an exhibition of student innovations at Plaza Simpanglima Semarang, Sunday (10/9/2017)
The exhibition featured around 50 innovations from Polines students' final assignments and was attended by around 70 Polines students.
Two of the innovations on display were Monitoring Controlling Hydroponics Box and Montaisi.
The chairman of the Polines Goes To Mall committee, as well as a lecturer in Informatics Engineering majoring in Electrical Engineering, Idhawati Hestiningsih said the Polines Goes To School activity was aimed at making innovations from students published to the public.
“Students make innovations and as a final project it takes time, some eight months. We help for student innovation results to be known by the public," said Idhawati.
Idhawati revealed that she chose Plaza Simpanglima Semarang as the exhibition venue because it was strategic and had many visitors.
“Usually exhibitions like this are only held in university buildings, only students or invitees come. If at Plaza Simpang Lima, the general public can find out, they can directly ask the students. Students can also find relationships from this exhibition.
The innovations shown are still in the form of prototypes," he added
Several visitors to the exhibition observed the work of the students. They said that the innovation exhibition was very good to help the community.
“This activity can make it easier for the public to see firsthand the results of student innovation. Students' works are definitely cheaper than buying them from abroad," said Randy, a visitor.
