Tegar Priambudi, a student majoring in Electrical Engineering at the Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) created a belt specifically for the blind. The belt will help in knowing the obstacles. This tool that uses Arduino has the function of replacing a stick that is usually used by blind people.<\/p>\n

The device called 'Satma-Net' has two cameras on the head of the belt.<\/p>\n
Arduino itself is a single-board micro controller that helps electronic users in various fields. Arduino uses the Atmel-AVR processor and the software has its own programming language.<\/p>\n
The fifth semester student of the Electrical Engineering Department of Polines, Tegar Priambudi said that the Satma-Net is very easy to operate. \u201cSatma-Net has two cameras whose function is to see what is in front of the wearer of this belt. The camera can be raised and lowered as needed. "The process of working when in front of the belt user there is a hole or obstacle, it will make a sound and vibrate by itself. I put two cameras on the head of the belt so that I can see in two directions, namely the front and the bottom," said Tegar, Thursday (2\/11\/2017).<\/p>\n
Tegar added that the distance that the Satma-Net belt can read is a maximum of five meters. \u201cWe set the default to two meters. We made this as a substitute for the cane commonly used by blind people which only reaches one and a half meters. I will give this tool free of charge to blind people who need it,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
He revealed that he also served in the manufacture of electronics and microcontroller projects. "I am together with my friend, Siska Yuliana as Sales marketing and administrative to help me promote the products that I make," he said.<\/p>\n
The Satma-Net was exhibited in the Bazaar and Expo of the Entrepreneurial Student Program (PMW) and the Indonesian Student Business Competition (KBMI) which were held in the Polines business canteen. In the bazaar and Expo with the theme 'Creative Preneur For Your Future', 18 booths by Polines students were exhibited.<\/p>\n
The head of the PMW and KBMI Polines program, Moh. Haris said that the purpose of the bazaar and Expo was to export the works of Polines students. "The works of students who are members of the PMW and KBMI programs can be recognized by the wider community," said Haris.<\/p>\n
